This is a sneak peek of what I am working on today. Or, rather, a sneak peek of what I should be working on right now instead of sitting here at the computer. I realized, after my last post, that I failed to include computer time as a main component of my daily life. I am currently in the habit of reading blogs and looking at pictures on Flickr while I spin yarn. I am a horrible procrastinator, so even though I justify my computer time with some multitasking, I almost always have a running list of things I should be doing instead of blog lurking. Right now, I really should be getting down to business with some household tidying in addition to catching up on craft projects.
Speaking of tidying and organization, didn't Miss N do a great job organizing these buttons?
She took this project on yesterday, before school, and I found my heart swelling with pride. Not simply because I can really use the extra help in reigning in some of my craft supply chaos, but also because I have such warm memories attached to buttons. Some of my earliest memories, in fact, are from when I was N's age and my mom would spread out a patchwork crib quilt and hand me her Ball jar full of buttons. I would divide them by color, arranged on different fabric squares. I remember the tactile pleasure of running my fingers over those buttons. Dumping the whole jar out to find my favorite, a metal button with a relief of strawberries. Putting the brown leather covered coat buttons back before I even started playing because I thought that they were ugly. Lucky for me (and N!) my mom still lets me raid that same button jar when I visit.
Would you like to see some spinning? Yes? Here is a view of three bobbins at work, from yesterday:
I have something that is pretty wild on the bobbin right now. I also need to get to the garden sometime today and try to harvest more of the green beans and tomatillos.
Happy Thursday friends!
